I’ve never tried smoothing the skin that way before. The rest was too messy, you should really use selections for applying layers.

Also, I personally just change colour levels for adjusting hair colour, that way you’re not taking away the natural sheen of the hair by painting it.

But then I’m a novice and I wouldn’t know good photoshopping if it thumped me in the face.
