Part Thirteen of a series on the complete creation of a character in Blender (Johnny Blender). This part works unwrapping the UV seams, and begins the texturing process in Photoshop CS2.

IMO it’s actually … IMO it’s actually better to use the SVG image export and turn off the fill so you get a UV image with the alpha already applied. Makes texturing easier with the UV’s overlayed on top of the layer stack.
when you joined the … when you joined the two meshes together, it applied two different materials to it. go to your editing panel (F9) and you’ll probably see a “1 Mat 2″ in the “link and materials ” area. delete the second one, and you should be fine.
I have been able to … I have been able to do the uv mapping following your tutorial but I have a strange issue. My character was composed of two meshes the head and the body. I joined the meshes together and made my uv map etc. but the jpg will only apply to the body. I can nologer change the color or texture of the head. Have I missed some step in rejoining the meshes?

I got a simple … I got a simple question for ya. Okay, I succesfully unwrapped, opened layout in my editor, saved it as a png, and when I loaded the image, the texture showed up on the model with full alpha (completely bright with no lighting and shading) and when I hit F12 to render, it just renders the material without the texture. Have any Idea what’s up with that? if I render the “scene” the texture shows up all alpha but not when I hit F12 which only shows the material. Any ideas?

i think (for now) that it only exports in .tga format. you can convert it in your DIP tho, i would imagine
